This initiative has been set up as an across-the-board arts event at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre.
It is scheduled for Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th February 2006, in the David Ferguson Hall, 10.00am - 6.00pm both days.
There will be a small admission
charge, for the public, of £2.00 £1.00 for concessions and free
for under 5's
All proceeds to go towards an "Arts Alive Fund" for new local arts'
initiatives
The event is designed to be a showcase for the local arts, celebrating the width and breadth of artistic activity going on in the island, and we can accommodate over 40 groups/organisations who will be given a table (2ft x 8ft) which they can man and have material about their organisation; past events, future plans, CD's for sale, exhibited work etc. The basic table will be provided, but it is up to each group to embellish it how they like (taking on board H&S considerations!).
As well as this there will be a stage which will host an ongoing live programme (Youth Theatre Choir, Concert Band, Art & Design, GADOC, Baroque Band, Glee Singers, Living History, ARCollective etc. etc.) which will illustrate clearly the talent that we have in this island.
I do believe firmly that this is a great way to shout about the amazing talents of the people involved in the arts community. Too often we work in isolation and I think the impact of coming together should be very exciting and give a taste of the commitment given by so many, to such great effect, to the arts in Guernsey
